Course description

This webinar discusses the challenges, processes, and issues with building sustainable cities in general. Case studies in the United States are presented. The methods and solutions used in these projects are presented and can be applied to the design in other projects. Provided are case studies and information that can be useful in constructing a community that is not only sustainable but also aesthetically.

Learning Objectives:
1. To have an in-depth understanding of the role of transit development in improving urban communities.
2. To familiarize participants of the challenges met in transit development.

3. To be able to help landscape architects, planners, and decision makers come with solutions that will improve mobility, public health and safety, and the cities economy.

Principal and Director of Strategy – Nelson Nygaard

Mr. Tumlin is Principal and Director of Strategy at Nelson Nygaard. Before that, he was Transportation Programs Manager at Stanford University from 1992–1997, where he helped establish parking cash out program, reinvent campus transit system, and built new bicycle and pedestrian networks, saving the campus millions of dollars in unnecessary parking structure construction.

For more than 20 years, Jeff has led award-winning plans in various cities in Seattle, Vancouver, Moscow, and Abu Dhabi. He is renowned for providing residents and stakeholders the tools they need to evaluate their transportation investments and achieve their long-term goals.

Jeff is also the author of "Sustainable Transportation Planning: Tools for Creating Healthy, Vibrant and Resilient Communities".
