Course description

This course was designed for people who have little to no experience with editing digital images, or who are looking for an introductory Image Editing refresher course. It is suitable for either Mac or PC users.  For ease of use, the course is divided into three sections to cover three main concepts: Program Preferences, Interface Essentials, and Essential Skills and Tools.

 The first concept, Program Preferences explores the underlying settings which cause software to automatically do, or not do, specific things.  Knowing how to access and customize these settings will let you adjust the program you are using for your specific needs.

The second concept, Interface Essentials, gives an overview of how your image editing program is physically laid out.  Although many software programs have common features, it is essential to know where the main features of your specific software live, how to access them, and how to adjust them for your needs.

The third concept, Essential Skills and Tools, addresses knowing how to do common “essential” tasks, and which tools are commonly used to do them.

Image Editing: Software

 Photoshop, GIMP, and Affinity Photo are three popular image editing programs, available for both Mac and PC, which offer similar features and tools. This course was created using the 24.2.0 release of Adobe Photoshop CC.
 

Image Editing Essentials: Learning Objectives

1.     The student will know how to find, access, and adjust their software preferences so that the software is customized for the needs of the student.

2.     The student will understand how to find, access, and adjust the layout of their software interface so that it is customized for the needs of the student.

3.     The student will learn how to do common image editing tasks, and will know how to use and adjust the tools to get their desired outcome.
