Course Description:
This course delves into the challenges posed by Mile-a-Minute Vine, an invasive plant species, and explores various management techniques, including the use of goats as part of an integrated vegetation management program. Attendees will learn about the growth patterns of Mile-a-Minute Vine throughout the summer and fall, as well as its current distribution across 14 states, with ongoing range expansion. The course also addresses the importance of managing seed production and implementing control techniques before the seed set to effectively mitigate Mile-a-Minute Vine infestations.
Learning Objectives:
1. Attendees will understand the growth patterns and distribution of Mile-a-Minute Vine across affected states, as well as its impacts on local ecosystems.
2. Attendees will learn about effective management strategies for controlling Mile-a-Minute Vine infestations, including mechanical removal, herbicide application, and the use of goats for vegetation control.
3. Attendees will explore the role of goats in integrated vegetation management programs and their effectiveness in controlling invasive plant species.
