Course Description:

This course provides an in-depth exploration of the impact of invasive woody vegetation on ecosystems and the methods for their identification and removal. Focusing on specific species such as Japanese knotweed, tree of heaven, glossy buckthorn, common buckthorn, oriental bittersweet, bamboo, poison oak, poison sumac, and autumn olive, expert presenters offer practical strategies for managing these troublesome plants. Additionally, the course covers the utilization of goats as a sustainable approach to plant management within integrated pest management (IPM) programs. Attendees will gain insights into the biology, ecology, distribution, and management techniques of these invasive species, empowering them to contribute to the preservation and restoration of local ecosystems.
