Course Description and Credit Information
Course Description:
This lecture discusses artificial intelligence and its impact on architecture and the built environment. This discussion encompasses the kinds of assumptions and biases that might accompany machine learning for the physical world. Also, it describes the specific roles and jobs in design and construction which might be replaced by automation. Lastly, it tackles the new forms of literacy and critical thinking necessary in architectural education and practice.
Learning Objectives:
1. Learn about material and texture models, sketch-based modeling, and creative applications of Artificial Intelligence relating to architecture.
2. Comprehend the Incubator and Emerging Ideas Innovation program which is focused on incubating transformational ideas, technologies, and tools in parallel to cultivating and validating emerging ideas based on client needs as well as the Jacobs strategic mission, to advance the practice through innovative processes.
3. Understand the themes of the future of design in the age of AI and Machine Learning and Generative Urban Design.
