Course Description:
This course introduces landscape architects to next generation topographic mapping and the role of USGS mapping tools in site analysis, watershed planning, and environmental decision-making. Participants explore US Topo maps, The National Map, base map layers, topoBuilder, map customization, map extent selection, downloadable formats, and support resources. The course explains how current topographic mapping tools can help practitioners understand terrain, drainage, access, landform relationships, and site context for planning, restoration, infrastructure, conservation, and resilient landscape design.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
