Course Description and Credit Information

This session will introduce participants to the field of Environmental Ethics from key starting points in environmental literature, feminist studies, new animism and social justice.

We will cover the links between sustainability, justice, welfare, the distribution of environmental goods and the design of sustainable cities; as well as make some predictions about the future development of environmental ethics in light of other interdisciplinary studies and philosophies.

 

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will consider the history of ethical discourse on Feminism, Animism and Social Justice in relation to Environmental Ethics.

2. Participants will reflect on what our current environmental crisis and resulting discourse has to offer the field of design.

3. Participants will consider their personal feelings, biases and priorities about ethics in relation to the environment and sustainability.
