About the instructor
Mr. Chang is the City Traffic Engineer for City of Seattle. He has worked over 24 years in the transportation engineering field focused on improving safety and mobility for all modes in State and city roadways. Prior to working in Seattle, Dongho worked as the City Traffic Engineer for the City of Everett and Area Engineer for Washington State Department of Transportation where he was responsible for traffic signals group, traffic analysis and channelization review, and traffic safety program. Dongho drove a Zamboni during high school, which he considers as his “coolest” job ever!
Seattle's streets account for 27 percent of the city's land. They provide both vital transportation and utility linkages necessary for the city to grow and thrive. The design of these streets can enhance community connections that improve economic vitality and provide healthy choices for residents.
This course discusses street and road safety, the challenges, and policies that address common issues such as traffic, risks, and development. Presented are case studies and street design samples to better understand the processes behind the development and how such designs work.
