Course Description:
This course discusses the core concept of cultural ecology through case studies and history. It discusses how climate affects culture, the technology that connected people, and the interaction among different cultures. Cultural ecology is discussed from the perspective of allowing us to better understand people and culture when someone is familiar with their landscapes.
The course also touches on how politics were developed within a culture through time.
Learning Objectives:
1. Explore the different cultures in the Northern America and neighboring continents and how they came to be.
2. Understand the challenges and cultural development of indigenous peoples.
3. Learn how culture can be preserved through policies that protect the people and territories.
