Course Description:
This webinar, presented by the USGS National Climate Change and Wildlife Science Center's as part of their Climate Change Science and Management Webinar Series, discusses the effects of climate change on fish production as well as fish habitat in Great Lakes in terms of water temperature, water levels, and ice cover, among others.
Climate change has an effect on everything landscape architects design and this webinar provides landscape architects the necessary information that could help them formulate solutions and preservation steps. The Great Lakes fisheries and recreation is a $7 billion USD annually. This research has focused on how climate change could influence fish habitat (including water temperature, ice cover, and water levels) and ultimately fish production, and recreation value. It is critical that landscape architects understand the valuable part they play in both educating their clients on the effect of climate change, but also creating sustainable designs is the responsibility of the profession and understanding the impacts of climate change is one area.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand climate change and its impact on fish habitats.
2. Enable participants to formulate solutions in answer to climate change.
3. Encourage participants to take action on habitat preservation.
