Course Description:
Cleveland Square provides an opportunity to revitalize the cities downtown and connect people and create a new placemaking space. James Corner speaks about his designs for remodeling Cleveland's Public Square as a 21st century, multi-use public space. He describes his plans in detail, including the changing of traffic patterns, a resting water/fountain area, a sloping field, and a café.
Corner also the discusses physical and visible connection of the Civil War Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument which currently resides in Public Square. The aspects of the design including connections, visibility lines, green areas, and water design elements.
