Course Description:

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of accessibility compliance and building codes, with a focus on ensuring that places of public accommodation and commercial facilities are accessible to individuals with disabilities. Participants will delve into the legal and regulatory framework, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and relevant state building codes, to gain a thorough grasp of the requirements and standards. Participants will gain the expertise needed to navigate and apply accessibility standards effectively, ensuring that their projects meet legal and regulatory requirements while promoting inclusivity for all. Participants will learn about the requirements, exceptions, and best practices related to accessible routes, entrances, doors, gates, elevators, platform lifts, security barriers, and means of egress. The course aims to empower professionals in creating inclusive and accessible environments for all individuals, including those with disabilities.


Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will understand the concept of vertical accessibility and how it impacts the design and construction of buildings.
