Course Description and Credit Information
This course lets you explore the Southwest US and Northern Mexico rivers, their physical attributes – germophology and sediment transportation – and how they can be considered in the development of environmental flows. Focusing on the Rio Grande River in West Texas and Colorado River basin, participants will learn about the how they can be restored and preserved as well as the efforts being done to make this possible. The course also highlights the features of these rivers that can contribute in the progress and growth of ecosystem, for the benefit of the public and the communities surrounding them.
Learning Objectives:
1. Know about the restoration process done on the rivers for decision makers and designers to apply them on similar projects.
2. Learn about the features of the rivers that may pose challenges or create solutions.
3. Understand the benefits of river restoration to the environment and the community.
